Click here to keep Red Baron 3D up to date

**NOTE**

*** This Full procedure only applies if you want to keep 2D as well ***

If all you want is to convert 2D to 3D then go to the two links below, execute the Super Patch first, then the 1078 patch to fix server 'not visible' issues.

If you are doing the full procedure then read on, if all you're doing is converting RBII to 3D then skip down a little and grab the Super Patch and 1078 patches. Before getting started, find a place on your PC where you can download files and store them. This is a step by step procedure. You should print this for reference while you do the install.

I'm working on getting the new linked pages for you, they'll be comming soon, in the mean time please use the main page or our links page, to do your search, you're sure to find them fast.

1. You will need these two files; "Superpatch" (converts 2D to 3D) and "1.078 Patch" (fixes some server invisibility problems (ie....no one home in the "gold chat room" after launching your MMP game).

Click the links above to go directly to the file downloads

2. Install the "super patch" first, very easy just double click the Icon and follow the prompts.

3. Install the "1.078 patch" same as above. If you are having problems trying to install "1.078" then I have a bit of bad news for you. You more than likely have an older version of RBII and will need to go back on-line, download and install the "
1.077 Patch" then install "1.078" before you can go on to the next step.

   **NOTE**
Your 2D game is now GONE and you'll have to totally reinstall everything and start again if you screw this up.

4.Now locate your Red Baron folder usually named something like "C:/Sierra/Red BaronII" Rename the "Sierra" folder to something else. I used "XSIERRAX" and it works fine.

5. Go out to your desk top and the start menu/bar and delete any Icons you have for Red Baron right now. They will all be replaced and then some later on.

6. Now in order to press on and differentiate this from the RBII game you are about to re-install, you'll need to do the following; go into the "Red Baron" folder and right click on "BARONMMP.EXE" then move cursor over "send to" then left click "desk top (create shortcut)". This is your shortcut to RB3D multi player. Go to your desktop and rename that Icon to something like "RB3D online". The next two things in brackets are for your info only-->("BARONMP.EXE" = new RBII online game, you won't like it) ("BARON.EXE" is your new 3D off-line game, VERY NICE, you may want to send this icon to the desktop too, just call it RB3D. You'll need some practice here before you go on-line as the flight model is totally different than what you are used to)

7. Now put your 2D disk back into your PC and reinstall it like you did the first time. Any modifications you made to the game will still be in the "XSIERRAX" folder you'll just need to copy those over later. Yes you'll have to re-download all won patches for the 2D game along the way as you wiggle your way back to the RBII WON server.

I hope this helped. I ruined my game no less than 10 times before I figured this out. I'm very glad to know you won't have to do the same.

The fine print

If you followed these instructions everything will work. Unforeseen glitches may arise during the install, this is possible at any time, that's on you! If your system takes a "dump" after you attempt this procedure I bear no responsibility. I will tell you that I did this exact procedure and other flyers on 3D have as well, only minor glitches have been noticed and immediately corrected on this page. If you encounter a problem using the contacts link so I can correct it for the next individual.
